Geocomposites based on geosynthetics
Geocomposites are a combination of two or more types of geosynthetic materials, made by combining in various combinations of geotextiles, geogrids, flat geogrids, geomembranes and geomats. Geocomposites are used for drainage, reinforcement, anti-erosion protection as well as for waterproofing. The composition of the layers and the use of this material depends the purpose of its use.
Varieties and applications of geocomposites::
● Drainage geocomposite – a three-dimensional material consisting of a combination of a drainage The drainage geocomposite is a three-dimensional material consisting of a combination of a drainage core and a nonwoven geotextile. The main application is reinforcement of the road bed. ● Waterproofing geocomposite – a material consisting of a geomembrane, waterproofing is a material consisting of a geomembrane bonded with one or two layers of non-woven geotextile. The basic function of the geocomposite is waterproofing. In this case the geotextile provides protection of the geomembrane from mechanical damage. ● The anti-erosion geocomposite is a material consisting of a geomat bonded to a nonwoven geotextile. ● Erosion control geocomposite – a material consisting of a geomat bonded to a nonwoven geotextile. The main purpose is to combat soil erosion.
